it has established a good reputation. The
Centre is within a grade II listed building
set in the heart of old Colchester. Its
tranquil ambiance is ideal for
psychotherapeutic practice. |

Cheryl Barnes Tadman and Ruth King

a senior accredited therapist has been in
practice for fifteen years. Along with her
private practice and GP work, she has also
co-facilitated anxiety management groups.

practice for twelve years, working
exclusively in private practice, also
co-founded and co-manages Abacus training,
which holds its courses at the Centre. |

Over thirty therapists work out of the
Centre, many of whom are BACP accredited.
Therapy is offered to adults, couples,
families, children and group work. Models of

What is Counselling
and Psychotherapy? |
|
|
|
Counselling/Psychotherapy involves listening
and talking, and understanding the relationship between the people
involved. Each therapy session offers an opportunity to have the
space to tell your story, and be listened to. The important part of
this is in establishing a healing relationship with your therapist.
Therapy is an active process, like a journey of self exploration.
The therapist is able to offer guidance, though the ultimate
responsibility for changing is with you. |
|
|
|
Sessions are usually held weekly and each
session lasts for fifty minutes. Further information can be obtained
from ‘Psychotherapy in the NHS: 25 FAQs
for service users’ or alternatively contacting Ruth or Cheryl
who will be happy to answer your questions. |
